Description
Advanced topics in topology in preparation for mathematical research in topology. Math 651 and Math 652 may also be helpful for students studying algebraic geometry or dynamical systems.Topics may include, but are not limited to, piecewise linear topology, 3-manifold theory, homotopy theory, and geometric group theory. The instructor may pick one or more of these topics for emphasis according to the developing interests of the research community. For research preparation, the student should also consider courses in algebraic topology, differential topology, and Riemannian geometry.
