In Math 190, I usually limit myself to a bare bones presentation of the topics listed in learning outcome 8.  In Math 387, I present these topics (primes, gcd, unique factorization) in commutative domains, and give several examples, including the integers.  The treatement is significantly deeper, and I expect more of the students in 387.  I agree that we should probably change the learning outcome for 387 to reflect the higher level of understanding that is expected. It's not clear to me what the difference is between learning outcome 1 for Math 387 and learning outcome 8 for Math 190. If they are the same, we should consider deleting one or the other.--Cpg 09:00, 8 May 2008 (MDT)

  • Delete Math 343 as a prerequisite. (It's redundant.)--Cpg 12:07, 8 May 2008 (MDT)

I agree that we should probably change the learning outcome for 387 to reflect the higher level of understanding that is expected. dmd54
