  5. Use trig identities to simplify expressions (appendix D: 43-57 odd, 59-63), and to solve equations and inequalities involving trig functions (app D: 65-76).
         * Most important identities: sin^2(x) + cos^2(x) = 1
         * sin(-x) = -sin(x)
         * cos(-x) = cos(x)
         * sin(x+y) = sin(x)cos(y) + cos(x)sin(y)
         * cos(x+y) = cos(x)cos(y) - sin(x)sin(y) 
     Using the above, you can derive other identities:
         * 1+tan^2(x)=sec^2(x); 1+cot^2(x) = csc^2(x)
